Michael Binnion
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Binnion has been actively involved in the financing and executive management of numerous private and public companies through his investment company, Ruperts Crossing Inc. Mr. Binnion is founder and Chief Executive Officer of Questerre Energy Corporation. He has also been a Director of Terrenex Acquisition Corporation and Syologist Ltd. and presently holds board positions on four other private companies. Mr. Binnion was a founding shareholder and Chief Executive Officer of Flowing Energy Corporation from 1996 until 2001 and was founding shareholder, President, Chief Financial Officer and a Director of CanArgo Energy Corporation in the Republic of Georgia from 1996 to 2000. Mr. Binnion is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from the University of Alberta.
Christopher Warren
Director
In 1981 Mr. Warren was one of the founding partners in the law firm, Warren Sinclair LLP. He practices in the areas of Corporate and Commercial Law, Estate Planning and Real Estate. Mr. Warren is currently past president of the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta; legal adviser and honorary member of the David Thompson Regional Health Foundation Board; a member of the Law Society of Alberta Conveyancing Advisory Committee; a member of the Red Deer Rotary Club; and a member of the Central Alberta Bar Association. Mr. Warren has a Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Alberta.
Simon Batcup
Director
Mr. Batcup has been actively involved in the executive management of numerous private and public companies, as both an owner and investor. Mr. Batcup is currently working with a Calgary based IT company. Previously he was managing director of Optimal Pressure Drilling Services Inc., the joint venture between High Arctic and Schlumberger. Prior thereto, Mr. Batcup was VP and part-owner of Robyn's Transport a Calgary based company in the refrigerated transport business. Previous business experience includes executive roles in information technology, courier and distribution, waste management, and transportation industries. Mr. Batcup has a bachelor of Commerce degree in Statistics and Operations Research from Concordia University in Montreal.
Steven Vasey
Director
Mr. Steven Vasey was elected to the board of directors on May 7th, 2009. Mr. Vasey served as President and Chief Executive Officer of VGS Seismic Canada Inc. from September 2005 to July 2008 and as Vice President of Seismic Operations of Olympic Seismic Canada from 2001 to September 2005. Prior thereto, he acted in successive positions for Petroleum Geo Services in Walton on Thames, England, from 1996 to 2000, culminating as Vice President Seismic Processing Operations for Europe, Africa and Middle East regions.
Dennis Sykora
Director
Mr. Sykora has been with High Arctic since April, 2007 primarily as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of High Arctic. In addition to his duties managing the legal function as general counsel, Dennis provides executive support primarily for the international operations and finance functions.
Mr. Sykora has worked for 12 years in the oilfield services industry, primarily focused on international operations. Prior to joining High Arctic, he was President of International Operations for a Canadian-based drilling contractor. Prior to that, he spent 15 years as a lawyer and Chartered Accountant with Felesky Flynn and Ernst &Young in Calgary, specializing in tax planning to the oil industry. Dennis is a member of both the Law Society of Alberta and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.
Daniel Bordessa
Director
Mr. Bordessa is a member of the Board of Directors of High Arctic and has also held the position of Managing Director and Partner, Cyrus Capital Partners since March, 2005. Cyrus Capital Partners manages investment funds.
Bruce Thiessen
Director
Mr. Thiessen has been CEO since early 2009 and also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of High Arctic. Since his appointment his primary focus has been overseeing High Arctic’s restructuring. Prior to his CEO role Mr. Thiessen served as High Arctic’s VP of Marketing. He continues to function in both capacities today. Bruce has been with High Arctic for the last 17 years. He was instrumental in the development and marketing of all of High Arctic’s services most notably the Stand Alone Snubbing Units. Bruce has been in the oil and gas industry for 27years and has over 36 years of sales and marketing experience. Prior to joining High Arctic Bruce worked for a major oilfield service company and worked his way from field sales to Marketing Manager.
